Hi, I’m Isabella King but everyone calls me Issy.
I’m a fourth-year Global Communications student at the American University of Paris, originally from sunny Laguna Beach, California. As a proud second-generation Fijian-Chinese American, I’ve always been surrounded by a vibrant blend of cultures, strong women, and a deep appreciation for nature. Growing up with three older sisters, two loving parents, and a duo of adorable dogs (one French bulldog and a pug), I learned early on the importance of compassion, resilience, and community. Whether we’re hiking the hills back home or relaxing by the ocean, my family has shaped the values I carry with me today.
My passion lies in women’s rights advocacy. Influenced by the strength and wisdom of my mom, Stacey, and the sisterhood I’ve grown up in, I’ve become committed to using my voice to support, inform, and empower women. From sharing resources to leading conversations, I strive to bring awareness to the issues women face every day. My goal is always to create space where women feel seen, understood, and uplifted.
Professionally, I’ve gained experience across industries, including finance and design management, which has strengthened my skills in communication, leadership, and relationship-building. Through academic projects, internships, and cross-cultural collaborations in both the U.S. and Europe, I’ve learned how to navigate diverse environments with adaptability and initiative.
On this site, you’ll find a curated portfolio of my work, reflecting the topics and conversations that matter most to me. This includes:
Interviews and Media Projects
A conversation with psychologist Candace Burnham on women’s rights, mental health, and agency
An interview with psychiatrist Dominique Padoux exploring the differences between the French and U.S. medical systems, specifically in the context of ADHD medication
Academic & Published Work
Select coursework from my studies at AUP, focusing on communication, gender, and global media
Published pieces, including lifestyle writing such as “The Best Clubs in Paris for House Music Lovers”
I hope this space gives you a window into my interests, experiences, and the issues I care most deeply about.
